Steps to Playing Hockey

#1 Learn to Skate 

The Summit Sports and Ice Complex offers Learn to Skate Classes based on USFSA Curriculum to keep skaters enthusiastic about learning to skate as well as engaged through various methods. This program caters to all ages and skaters regardless of level, ranging from Freestyle skaters to Hockey Players. (Ages 3 & up recommended)

#2 Sparties (Learn to Play Hockey)

The Summit Sparties/LTP program is geared towards preparing skaters for their first step in their hockey journey. This program teaches the fundamentals of hockey while working on the development of each player’s skating, balance, agility, shooting and stick handling abilities. All of these are incorporated in a fun and competitive environment that works on building each player’s confidence on the ice.

#3 Join Lansing Hockey Club 

The Lansing Hockey Club provides recreational and competitive youth hockey in age specific levels through USA Hockey and the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association.

Sparties/LTP 4 – 7 years old
Mini-Mite 5 – 8 years old
Mite 7 & 8 years old
Squirt 9 & 10 years old
PeeWee 11 & 12 years old
Bantam 13 & 14 years old
Midget 15 – 18 years old

Learn To Play Hockey Spring 2019

  • Ages 4-8 years old
  • Tuesday evenings, 5:30pm-6:20pm
  • April 16th– June 4th
  • $125 for 8 sessions (or $20.00 per session)
  • Players will be divided according to age and skill.
  • Development of skating and puck skills, balance, agility, shooting, and stick handling.
  • Must have completed at least one session of Learn to Skate.
  • Full Equipment required (equipment available free of charge on a first come first serve basis).

  • Ages 4-8 years old

  • June 25th– August 20th (No Class July 2nd)
  • $125 for 8 sessions (or $20.00 per session)
  • Players will be divided according to age and skill.
  • Development of skating and puck skills, balance, agility, shooting, and stick handling.
  • Must have completed at least one session of Learn to Skate.
  • Full Equipment required (equipment available free of charge on a first come first serve basis).
