Get fit and stay healthy! The Summit Sports and Ice Complex offers Learn to Skate classes for all ages and skill levels. We have a Learn to Skate class that is great for kids stepping on the ice for the very first time or skaters that would like to improve their form. For the hockey player in the family, The Summit also provides a Learn To Play Hockey class, where the kids get to wear hockey equipment and do team-like drills.

Snowplow Sam Classes

Ages 3 to 5 years old. The Snowplow Sam levels are designed to help the preschool-age skater develop preliminary coordination and strength to maneuver on the ice.

Basic 1- 8 & Adult 1-8

Ages 6 or older. The “basic skills’ are the fundamentals of the sport.  These eight levels of the program introduce the fundamental moves: forward skating, backward   skating, stops, edges, crossovers, turns and Mohawks.  Upon completion of the  Basic 1-8 levels, skaters will have a basic knowledge of the sport, enabling them to advance to more specialized areas of skating.

Basic 3 and above may require multiple sessions of classes prior to complete all elements to move to next level.

Hockey

The Hockey curriculum is designed to teach the fundamentals of hockey skating. Players will learn how to maneuver faster and be more agile on the ice.

Prerequisite: Completion of Basic 2 or with Skating Director Permission
